Car Setup Tips 2 by David Chong aka Tamiya David

To me the car is the most important part of winning as I use the chassis 70% , motor 20% and battery 10% ratio as my way of racing.

To some that have seen me race will think I am crazy with the chassis change I go trough and why I do that is to maintain the performance in competition. A chassis will weaken after a few bang here or there and it will affect the performance of the whole car as a small hair line crack will not be noticed until its too late.
Cutting of chassis is normally practised among racers to reduce weight but by cutting the chassis it will also weaken it in a certain way so proper reinforcements will be needed and they may end up adding weight instead.
The chassis will be weakened after too many cleaner sprays as these cleaners will harm plastic directly or indirectly so beware of the sprays. Heat is also a factor in the weakening of a chassis as a hot motor and hot battery after a long run will surely affect the plastic chassis and softens it.
